Schedule & Compensation
- Schedule: Primarily day shift, approximately 6:00 AM – 5:15/5:30 PM
- Flexibility: Occasional rotation to support and check in on night shift operations
- Compensation: Salary is flexible to secure the right candidate, with a typical range of $120,000 – $175,000, depending on experience and qualifications
Position Overview
We are seeking a distinguished Maintenance Manager to lead and elevate maintenance operations within a high-speed packaging manufacturing facility in Ulster County, NY. This role is instrumental in ensuring optimal equipment reliability, operational continuity, and the development of a best-in-class maintenance organization.
The Maintenance Manager will provide both strategic and hands-on leadership across all maintenance functions, partnering closely with the Maintenance Planner to drive execution, prioritize critical workstreams, and maximize workforce productivity. This leader will play a central role in minimizing downtime, advancing equipment performance, and fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in manufacturing, packaging, or high-speed production environments
- Strong mechanical knowledge of production and packaging equipment
- Proven experience managing maintenance teams in a production setting
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing maintenance demands in a fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred:
- Experience in packaging or high-speed manufacturing environments
- Working knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, and industrial controls
- Experience implementing preventive or predictive maintenance programs
- Experience working with CMMS systems
- Proven track record of improving equipment reliability and operational efficiency
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Reliability & Plant Performance
- Lead maintenance and reliability efforts across all production and packaging equipment
- Drive maximum equipment uptime through preventive and corrective maintenance strategies
- Prioritize daily work orders aligned with production needs
- Partner with the Maintenance Planner to ensure efficient scheduling and execution across shifts
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective solutions
Line Changeover Optimization
- Oversee execution of mechanical line changeovers across production lines
- Develop and standardize procedures to improve efficiency, consistency, and safety
- Train maintenance staff on best practices for changeovers
- Coordinate closely with Production to align schedules and readiness
- Identify opportunities to reduce downtime through process and tooling improvements
Maintenance Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians and mechanics
- Establish a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence
- Implement cross-training programs to build a flexible and capable team
- Drive continuous improvement in technical capability and team performance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Production, Quality, Sanitation, and Shift Leadership to support operations
- Maintain strong presence on the production floor for rapid troubleshooting
- Participate in plant-wide performance and improvement initiatives
Facility Oversight & Operational Discipline
- Conduct daily walkthroughs to identify maintenance and facility issues
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Reinforce strict adherence to safety and housekeeping standards
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for vendors and contractors
- Ensure all external work meets plant safety and operational standards
- Collaborate with equipment vendors to improve performance and reliability
Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with Automation teams to enhance system performance
- Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades and process optimization
- Support initiatives to improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
Planned Maintenance & Weekend Leadership
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs and planned repairs
- Provide leadership during scheduled Saturday maintenance activities

Within the first 12 months, the Maintenance Manager will:
