DescriptionAicon Contemporary is seeking a motivated and adaptable Gallery Associate to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across gallery operations, art handling, marketing, and design, working closely with the Gallery Owner, Associate Director, Registrar, and supervising one or more Gallery Interns.We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn. The ideal candidate is a team player who is flexible, resourceful, and comfortable taking on a wide range of tasks in a dynamic gallery environment.ResponsibilitiesDesign and produce marketing and promotional materials (brochures, flyers, social media graphics, website visuals, etc.).Manage and maintain gallery social media platforms.Support the Gallery Registrar with art handling, packing/unpacking, stretching canvas, and transportation of artworks, especially around openings and art fairs.Comfort with ladders and familiarity with power tools is preferred.Assist with inventory management, cataloging, and database entry (knowledge of Gallery Manager is a plus, but training will be provided).Help maintain and organize art storage areas.Conduct research and source visual references for design projects.Prepare design files for both print and digital distribution.Ensure consistency with gallery branding across all materials.Stay current with design and social media best practices.Assist Gallery Owner with correspondence and conversations with collectors and artists.Participate in sales when possible—commissions are paid on sales.QualificationsDegree in Art History, Fine Arts, Museum Studies, Graphic Design, or related field.Relevant experience in graphic design or visual communication.Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); familiarity with SketchUp is a plus.Photography skills are strongly preferred.Ability to stretch canvas and drivePassion for contemporary art and eagerness to gain experience in gallery operations.Strong organizational and multitasking skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Detail-oriented with excellent communication and collaboration skills.Good visual design skills with a keen eye for typography, color, and layout.Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends as needed for openings and fairs.A portfolio or samples of previous design work required.Additional InformationGallery hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 10am – 6pm.Must be a strong team player with a proactive attitude, openness to feedback, and willingness to take on any task as needed.
