As a Sales & Inventory Associate, you play a critical role in delivering an educational, welcoming, and stigma-free customer experience while ensuring the accurate, compliant handling of cannabis products across the dispensary. This dual role blends customer-facing sales responsibilities with hands-on inventory management, requiring strong attention to detail, operational discipline, and a commitment to regulatory compliance.
You will guide customers through their cannabis journey with professionalism and care, while also supporting inventory movement from receipt through sale in alignment with New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) regulations, METRC requirements, and internal standard operating procedures. Working closely with sales, fulfillment, and compliance teams, you help ensure the dispensary operates efficiently, lawfully, and with integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Experience, Sales, & Education
- Greet customers warmly and create a comfortable, non-judgmental, and informative shopping experience
- Ask thoughtful questions to understand customer needs and confidently recommend appropriate cannabis products, explaining effects, consumption methods, and dosage in clear, accessible terms
- Build meaningful customer relationships that encourage repeat visits and community trust
- Process all transactions accurately using POS systems, including cashless and electronic payments
- Stay informed on promotions, new products, and vendor highlights to drive engagement and sales
Inventory Management & Accuracy
- Receive, verify, and document incoming cannabis product deliveries; reconcile physical inventory with manifests and digital systems
- Accurately log and track products in Metric and POS systems (e.g., Treez)
- Perform routine inventory audits, including cycle counts, variance checks, and full reconciliations
- Track inventory by SKU, batch number, expiration date, and product identifiers
- Ensure storage, quarantine, and disposal areas are organized, clearly labeled, and compliant
Compliance & Regulatory Adherence
- Maintain strict compliance with NYS OCM regulations, Metric guidelines, and internal SOPs
- Properly document product movement, returns, quarantines, destruction, and transfers
- Quarantine and document expired, damaged, or returned products with accurate annotations and timestamps
- Verify customer age and ensure compliant sales and product handling at all times
- Escalate inventory discrepancies, loss events, or compliance risks to management promptly
Operations & Store Standards
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary store environment, including sales floor, stockroom, restrooms, and break areasSanitize high-touch surfaces, manage waste, and secure cannabis-related disposal per OCM regulations
- Support visual merchandising by maintaining accurate, compliant, and engaging product displays
- Assist with shift transitions, restocking, and daily operational readiness
Collaboration, Reporting, & Technology
- Communicate real-time inventory availability and product updates with team members
- Collaborate with vendors, delivery partners, and internal teams to resolve inventory or product issues
- Generate and interpret inventory and sales reports to identify trends, stock risks, and reorder needs
- Support compliance documentation and OCM audit preparation as needed
- Assist with training and reinforcing inventory and compliance processes across the team
Requirements
- Minimum 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1–2 years of experience in retail, customer service, inventory, or operations (cannabis experience a plus, not required)
- Familiarity with POS and inventory systems (e.g., Metric, Treez, Dutchie) preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to differentiate between similar products and labelsComfortable using technology and working in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Manual dexterity and comfort working in environments with cannabis aromas
- Willingness to undergo background checks and comply with all cannabis regulations

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
