Job title: Lead Carpenter
Reporting to: Project Manager/Field Manager
Summary:
The Lead Carpenter role requires a passionate, driven individual with the technical ability to oversee and advise a team, in a variety of different disciplines on both large and small projects, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and maximum productivity. Successful candidates for Lead Carpenter, who excel in this role can be considered for further promotion in ether Project, Operations or Field management.
The Lead Carpenter is responsible for managing a small crew as a belt-on leader, to execute construction plans and contractual scope within budget and timeline, ensuring maximum productivity through clear communication, direction and leading by example. Actual compensation will depend on the individual's qualifications, education, skills, and experience.
Lead Carpenter - Attitude and Client Service:
Maintaining an effective communication channel with the client to manage customer expectations, anticipate issues and ensure consistent, positive engagement and long-term customer loyalty

Lead Carpenter - Organization, Awareness and Safety:
- Coordinating and communicating job planning, advance material needs, timelines, deliveries, sub-contractor scope/performance, with daily updates to Management
- Ensuring the team actively understands and consistently follows 3GB policies and expectations, including but not limited to: P.I.C.O.K. (P*ay attention, Initiate, Clean, Organize, K*eep Moving), time clock protocols, break policies, and phone/media usage
- Consistently coordinating and facilitating a clean, organized, and safe work area each day, through understanding and adherence across the build team, to 3GB standards and OSHA safety and operational regulations, along with any specific directives from the Field Manager/Project Manager
- Ensuring the team onsite consistently performs tasks following all necessary, personal, safety standards, including but not limited to: appropriate operation and storage of tools and machinery, and proper use of safety equipment/PPE
- Maintaining a clean, organized and fully stocked 3GB vehicle (if applicable)
- Inspiring and teaching peripheral awareness and anticipation of potential safety, organization or operational issues
- Awareness of critical priorities, and adaptability to shift in response to changing events and circumstances
- Identifying and communicating potential design/installation issues and finding solutions to complex problems
- Anticipating and relaying equipment/materials/tools needed and leading the team to do the same, by example
- Using 3GB systems effectively, including but not limited to: Outlook, OneDrive, designated email addresses (e.g, “bids@/HR@/photos@), QuickBooks Workforce
Lead Carpenter - Knowledge and Technique:
In addition to a skill set that includes a mastery of all basic carpentry techniques: the ability to execute independently and in a non-standard situation the following:
- Laying out walls and plates correctly from blueprints
- Accurately building forms for cast in place steps/exposed form work
- Laying out roof rafters
- Understanding point loads and load transfers in structural work
- Cutting stair stringers correctly
- Calculating layout of stairs taking into account run and rise
- Installing crown molding
- Installing complex tile patterns and mitered edges
- Constructing and install custom built-ins
- Laying out paneling/shiplap, with consideration for seam placement and nail patterns
- Scribing to an undulated surface correctly
- Executing mortice and tenon work correctly
- Installing appliances and hardware
Lead Carpenter - Leadership and Management:
- Actively managing the 3GB team to achieve excellence in all aspects of their work and interactions, including but not limited to:
- - Accountability: instilling a culture of accountability for decisions, successes and mistakes- Leading by example: actively demonstrating behaviors and techniques that embody 3GBs Core Values- Sharing knowledge: creating appropriate opportunities for learning and development amongst the team to ensure employee growth and maximum productivity
- Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of 3GB standard operating procedures and ensuring compliance in the field, e.g., Change Order management
- Providing impactful employee feedback consistently using the EEC model (E*xample, Effect, Change or C*ontinue)
- Comprehensively informing the Field Manager and/or Project Manager when execution or design issues arise, proposing solutions and working to resolve them quickly and effectively while maintaining clear communication with your crew
- Making informed decisions, identifying and engaging stakeholders in the process, creating space for consensus and buy-in
- Ability to resolve conflict calmly and effectively
Lead Carpenter - Qualifications and requirements:
At least 7 years construction/carpentry experience
Carpentry technical skills inc. all basic carpentry skills, AND layout, stair-building, rafters, bird’s mouth cut-outs
Extensive knowledge of building codes and regulations
Extensive understanding of OSHA construction regulations
Excellent math and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multi-task and deal with a high-pressure work environment
Ability to read, understand and action complex blueprints, architectural plans etc.
Desire to lead a team and work collaboratively
Tools: must own at a minimum, construction basics plus extensive pack out system – e.g., oscillating multi-tool, jigsaw, planer, grinder
Compensation: final compensation to be determined based on successful candidates experience and skill set.

Pay: $35.00 - $43.26 per hour
