Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced manager to lead our manufacturing operations in China. The GM will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the facility, including production, marketing, sales, quality, staffing, financial performance, and compliance. This role requires strong leadership, cross-cultural management skills, and good business instincts to manage a business in a foreign country. This company subsidiary is 20 years old, has excellent staff and maintains a low-employee turnover rate. Training will be provided in the US prior to relocation; the training period to be determined.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and management of the manufacturing facility in China.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to meet production, cost, and quality targets.
- Manage and mentor local leadership teams across production, engineering, supply chain, and quality control.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. and Chinese regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Oversee all operations, R&D functions, and financial performance.
- Foster strong communication and collaboration between the U.S. and local operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing with some sales/marketing experience a plus.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and cross-cultural communication skills.
- The successful candidate will be someone that is interested in working abroad, is detailed and intelligent, has good business instincts, above average fortitude, and superior interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience working in China either through remote work, business travel, or work-in-residence in China (preferred).
Preferred/Optional Qualifications: Proficiency in Mandarin is a plus, enhancing our team's ability to connect with diverse clients, employees, and other government officials. If you do not possess the ability to speak Mandarin, classes will be provided.
