Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and coordinate all payroll functions within our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining compliance with applicable laws, and managing payroll-related data across various platforms. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll management systems, accounting principles, and human resources processes to support our company's financial integrity and employee satisfaction.
Duties
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, Ceridian, and other HRIS or accounting software.
- Ensure accurate data entry for employee hours, wages, benefits, and deductions while maintaining confidentiality.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions.
- Oversee benefits administration related to payroll including deductions for health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations; prepare and file tax reports as required.
- Coordinate with accounting teams on general ledger reconciliation and accounts payable/receivable related to payroll expenses.
- Conduct analysis of payroll data to identify discrepancies or errors and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Assist with audits related to payroll and benefits programs; ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
- Support HR functions such as employee onboarding, offboarding, and maintaining HRIS records related to payroll.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations affecting payroll processing; implement necessary adjustments.
Experience
- Proven experience managing payroll operations within a corporate or non-profit environment.
- Proficiency with multiple payroll software platforms including Workday, ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks, Kronos, Ceridian, UltiPro, PeopleSoft or similar systems.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles such as double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, debits & credits, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Familiarity with governmental accounting standards and tax regulations affecting payroll processing.
- Experience in benefits administration and benefits-related compliance issues.
- Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to perform account reconciliation and data analysis effectively.
- Knowledge of human resources processes related to payroll management including HRIS systems and timekeeping software like Kronos or UltiPro.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong data entry skills including 10 key typing proficiency.
