Dutchess Mill & Machine has a metal fabrication and custom furniture shop based in Millbrook, NY. We design and build architectural metalwork, sculptural furniture, and precision parts for artists, builders, and designers throughout the Hudson Valley. The shop recently came under new ownership and is entering a new growth phase — rebuilding a once-bustling fabrication business into a modern, design-forward operation.
We’re looking for a hands-on Shop Manager who can both run the floor and help shape the next chapter of the company.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day fabrication, welding, finishing, and assembly
- Manage project workflow, materials, and deadlines
- Maintain equipment and shop organization
- Collaborate with designers, builders, and artists
- Fabricate prototypes and final pieces to a high standard
- Train and supervise a small crew as the shop scales
Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in metal fabrication, machining, or custom furniture making
- Strong TIG/MIG welding and layout skills
- Comfort with mills, lathes, and precision tooling
- Experience reading CAD drawings and fabrication plans
- Ability to lead by example — equally comfortable on the floor and managing operations

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
