The Role
We’re seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Store Manager to lead Grapefruit Wines’ day-to-day operations. This is an exciting opportunity to oversee a growing business, build and mentor a talented team, and bring creativity and strategy to our retail and hospitality experience.
The Store Manager will partner closely with the Vice President/Director of Operations to shape operations, drive sales, and ensure Grapefruit delivers outstanding guest experiences. The ideal candidate is a leader with a passion for hospitality, deep appreciation for natural wine and craft spirits, strong financial acumen, and a knack for blending operational discipline with a welcoming, customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and inspire the Grapefruit team—building a culture of positivity, accountability, and excellence.
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth service, strong sales, and consistently high standards in product quality and guest experience.
- Manage ordering, vendor relationships, inventory, and payroll while keeping budgets and profitability in focus.
- Own financial performance, including P&L tracking, budgeting, and cost control.
- Recruit, train, and retain staff; oversee scheduling, onboarding, and professional development.
- Collaborate with leadership and marketing on promotions, events, and digital presence to grow Grapefruit’s profile.
- Curate offerings with an emphasis on natural wines, spirits, and local producers to align with Grapefruit’s identity.
- Maintain compliance with all state and local laws (including New York State Liquor Authority requirements).
- Uphold Grapefruit’s brand values of community, quality, inclusivity, and service in every decision.
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of management experience in hospitality, retail, or a related field (wine or specialty retail strongly preferred).
- Knowledge of and passion for natural wines, craft spirits, and local producers.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills; ability to motivate and mentor a diverse team.
- Excellent organizational, financial, and operational skills.
- Comfortable balancing strategic planning with day-to-day problem-solving.
- Ability to work a 40–50 hour week, balancing administrative responsibilities with presence on the sales floor.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $65,000–$70,000 annually, commensurate with experience
