We have a new full-time position available on our Finance Team for a Senior Payroll Manager.
This position, reporting to the Director of Finance, is responsible for performing various payroll responsibilities, including but not limited to, training and supervising payroll staff, processing payroll on a timely basis, researching and resolving payroll issues, preparation of general ledger reconciliations and payroll data, and communicating with staff and supervisors regarding payroll questions.
Responsibilities will also include, but are not limited to:
- Overall daily operations of the Payroll team including supervision, direction, evaluation and problem resolution
- Developing short-term and long-term plans and strategies for improving the efficiency of the Payroll team.
- Establishing and revising procedures, performance standards and quality control measures to manage workload and the quality of work performed.
- Reviewing payroll tax returns including reconciliation of 941 and W-2 forms to the general ledger
- Coordination of wage and hour inquiries for internal and external stakeholders
- Overseeing the maintenance of staff master files and allocation tables. Coordinating with HR Department the maintaining of the payroll system database.
- Working collaboratively with HR Team members on any Day Force policies and procedures as well as contributing to new processes to improve efficiency for all users
- Supervising and approving the payroll journal entries and posting to the general ledger. Making corrections as necessary.
- Overseeing timely and accurate distribution of payroll checks complying with proper internal controls.
- Active participant in all accounting department staff meetings, this will ensure efficient flow of information and communication of key issues.
- Maintenance of payroll records for cost report and all other internal and external reporting
- Pension reporting including quarterly retirement contribution filings and year-end retirement plan audit
- Workers comp audit reporting
- Responsible for recording of payroll cash transactions and managing voids from the HRMS/Payroll system
- Responsible for reconciliation of all payroll general ledger accounts including deduction and liability accounts
- Maintain integrity of the agency's confidential information.
- All other duties as assigned and deemed appropriate by Director of Finance or CFO.
HOURS: 40/Monday through Friday
STARTING SALARY: $ 85,000 to $ 100,000 per year, based on relevant education and experience
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a commensurate level of directly-related experience
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage the Payroll Team
- A minimum of (7) years experience processing payroll on all levels is required
- Understanding of proper accounting treatment for payroll transactions and activities
- Experience with automated HR/PR systems - Day Force experience is a plus
- Superior computer skills including Microsoft Excel
- Must be able to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels
