As the Communications & PR Director, you to lead the external communications and press activities for our U.S. market, with a sharp focus on public relations, media strategy, and press outreach. In this role, you’ll craft our brand narrative, secure top-tier media coverage, and build meaningful relationships with journalists and key stakeholders and be assisted by the Communications Team. The position can be based in our office Los Angeles or in the office in New York. Main responsibilities of this role include:Oversee media relations in the United States, ensuring alignment with global communication strategiesBuild and maintain relationships with key US media across print, digital, and broadcast platformsDevelop and execute publicity campaigns for book releases and special projects, including feature stories, reviews, and brand narrativesCoordinate press interviews and speaking engagements for artists, executives, and talent based in the USCollaborate with Global Communications Team to develop global release strategies and ensure cohesive communication effortsResearch and identify creative promotional opportunities for TASCHEN books, partnerships, and special projects in the US marketOrganize and execute US-based press events, including book launches, artist talks, and brand activationsOversee the creation and dissemination of press materials, including press releases, pitches, and media kitsSupport the development of internal and external publicity reports and ensure accuracyCollaborate with sales, marketing and digital marketing teams to effectively integrate communication strategiesManage administrative tasks related to US communications activitiesTravel to key US press markets, including New York, to fortify media, partnerships, and talent networkYour profileAt least 6 years in communications or press, demonstrating a consistent track record of securing high-impact media placementsDemonstrated access to a broad, well-established network of media professionals, journalists, editors, and influencers across key verticals, including national and trade pressProven ability to actively leverage and mobilize this network to drive coverage, amplify key initiatives, and support brand positioning objectivesStrong interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the capacity to build and sustain long-term partnerships based on trust, responsiveness, and mutual value creationExceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with demonstrated expertise in developing clear, engaging, and strategically aligned messagingCapable of exercising sound judgment and strategic foresight in high-pressure situations, including reputation management and media crisesHighly collaborative, detail-oriented, and adaptable within fast-paced, cross-functional team environmentsBachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; advanced degrees or industry certifications are a plus
