Studio Operations Manager (Creative Legion) — Hudson, NY
$50,000–$65,000 DOE | Full-Time | Health Benefits Beginning Fall 2026
About (Creative Legion)
Creative Legion is a members-based cultural space in Hudson, NY — a hub for artists, designers, writers, filmmakers, and creative operators who are building something. We exist to foster connection, spark ideas, and support the creative economy of the Hudson Valley and beyond.
We bring people together through exhibitions, events, and a thoughtfully designed environment that makes great work possible. The energy here is intentional. So is the hire.
About This Role
The Studio Operations Manager is the connective tissue of (Creative Legion).
This is not a role for someone who simply manages tasks. It's a role for someone who sees the space as a living ecosystem — and understands that the right conversation, the right introduction, or the right idea at the right moment can change the trajectory of a member's project or business.
You will run a tight, beautiful, well-functioning studio while staying genuinely curious about the people and creative work that move through it every day. You are not expected to do everything — but you are expected to notice everything and guide accordingly.
This role reports directly to the owner and serves as the primary operational leader on the ground.
Core Responsibilities
1. Daily Studio Operations
- Oversee opening and closing procedures with consistency and care
- Ensure the space is clean, organized, and aligned with brand standards at all times — gallery, café, workspaces, event zones, and all shared resources
- Manage the coffee bar and ensure all front-of-house areas are stocked, functional, and presentable
- Review the daily calendar and align team priorities and space readiness accordingly
- Anticipate needs before they become problems and problem-solve in real time — calmly and decisively
2. Team Leadership & Floor Management
- Manage and develop Studio Assistants across shifts — setting daily priorities and holding the team accountable to completing work fully, not partially
- Enforce professional expectations around time management, break policy, communication, and presentation
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and constructive feedback
- Document and escalate performance concerns when necessary
- Model the standards you expect from your team
3. Member & Guest Experience
- Serve as the primary front-of-house presence — warm, attentive, and reflective of the quality of the space
- Know who is in the space, what they're working on, and what they might need
- Uphold policies around visitor access and member use of space
- Support event check-in and ensure a seamless experience for all guests
4. Community & Creative Connector
- Actively listen for opportunities — a member who needs a collaborator, a project seeking a partner, a business that could use an introduction
- Facilitate meaningful connections across the (Creative Legion) community
- Identify programming ideas, partnerships, or activations that align with our mission
- Contribute to the cultural life of the space, not just its operations
5. Administrative & Systems Management
- Manage the reception email daily with organized, timely, and professionally written responses
- Maintain proficiency in Google Suite.
- Ensure operational systems are followed consistently and flag anything requiring leadership attention
- Quickly learn new platforms such as Gusto (HR)
6. Event Support & Execution
- Prepare the space for events: setup, flow, and staffing alignment
- Oversee the check-in process and serve as the on-site point person for staff and guests
- Ensure thorough post-event reset every time
7. Brand & Culture Stewardship
- Uphold the tone, energy, and visual standard of Creative Legion
- Ensure staff presentation aligns with expectations — appearance, demeanor, and conduct
- Guide appropriate use of social media while on shift
- Protect the integrity of the space — physically, culturally, and socially
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of direct people management experience — you have supervised, coached, and held a team accountable in a professional setting
- Experience in a high-end, design-forward, or elevated hospitality environment — a fine dining restaurant, boutique hotel, premium retail concept, gallery, private club, or comparable space where standards and guest experience are non-negotiable
- Strong written and verbal communication skills — you can write a professional email, give clear direction, and navigate a difficult conversation with composure
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting demands without losing attention to detail
- Comfort with operational tools and systems — scheduling software, inbox management, member or reservation platforms
- A genuine interest in or connection to the creative industries — art, design, film, writing, or the broader cultural economy
- Ability to work a consistent on-site schedule including weekends and evenings as needed
Who You Are
- A natural connector — you remember people, read a room, and make introductions that matter
- A calm, grounded leader who holds a high standard without creating tension
- Genuinely curious about the people and projects moving through Creative Legion
- Self-directed, reliable, and proud of your professionalism
- Someone who sees operations as a foundation — not a ceiling
Non-Negotiables
- Professionalism in appearance, language, and behavior — every shift, every day
- Ownership mindset — no task is beneath you, no problem is someone else's
- Adherence to scheduling and operational policies
- Zero tolerance for gossip or conduct that undermines team culture
- Genuine respect for the space, the work, and the community
Compensation & Benefits
- $50,000–$65,000 depending on experience
- Health benefits beginning Fall 2025
