Friends of Materials for the Arts- Development Coordinator Friends of Materials for the Arts (FOMA), in collaboration with the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, is the nonprofit organization that guides and supports educational programming, warehouse operations, and other initiatives of Materials for the Arts (MFTA). MFTA, a program of the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) for over 48 years - is New York’s premiere reuse center, providing a way for companies and individuals to donate unneeded supplies to thousands of public schools and nonprofit organizations with arts programming. We offer a wide variety of events, workshops, and classes to help people see and experience creative reuse up close. Reporting Relationship- The Development Coordinator is on the Development team and will report to the Director of Development. Position Overview- The Development Coordinator plays a pivotal role on the Development team providing support to the Director of Development with high-quality administrative support, support at fundraising events and the solicitation, cultivation and stewardship of donors. Responsibilities: Fundraising & Donor Support Support the Development team with tasks such as grant reporting, donation acknowledgements, stewardship activities and data entry. Assist in sending personal cards, thank you emails and calls to donors for stewardship purposes. Responsible for creating a quarterly newsletter for donors. Manage mailing lists for newsletters and direct mail and e-mail appeals. Provide donor history reports for cultivation. Administrative & Reporting Manage Bloomerang database; update donor records and track accurate gift and appeal coding. Provide data input and general data management to track fundraising and engagement activity. Provide monthly reports of all donor contributions to bookkeeper. Event Coordination Support the planning and execution of internal and external events alongside FOMA/MFTA staff (expectation to work at evening events 1-2 times a month). Ensure proper coding, acknowledgments, and tax receipts for event-related gifts. Represent FOMA at third-party events and assist with in person programming events as needed. Experience & Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred Minimum of 5+ years of fundraising experience preferred Skills and Competencies: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with donor databases; Bloomerang preferred. Excellent verbal and written communications skills with attention to detail required. Excellent project management skills including a demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when needed. Details: Job Type: Full time (40 hours/week) Work location in Long Island City, NY: mixed in person/hybrid- 4 days in person, 1 day WFH Salary: The expected salary range for this position is $62,000-$65,000 per annum. The successful candidate will be offered a salary within this range based on specific factors including but not limited to their individual qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations. Health insurance stipend: $700 per month.
