Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly talented and motivated Sales & Events Manager to join Prestige Hospitality Group and be responsible for the successful sales effort needed for The Wick. You must be proficient at managing the ongoing sales strategy of the hotel, oversee all events from start to finish. This role will be critical in creating and maintaining a positive proactive and reactive sales and events culture in the hotel.
This position will actively solicit business with a focus on group weddings, events, corporate and association business. Strong interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills required for this role. Also responsible to inspire and mentor all hotel associates on the Everybody Sells approach.
The Sales & Events Manager must supervise all aspects of our events while maintaining brand standards and work alongside the associates to achieve superior levels of service and quality. Ultimately, the performance of the property and its associates are the responsibility of the management team. This will require the Sales & Events Manager to be present during high-demand periods, which includes evenings and weekends, and be available for holiday coverage as well.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Find creative and effective ways to bring in new business within group and business transient market segments. Cultivate and source leads through cold calls, telemarketing, direct sales and networking.
- Leading by example to ensure the business has a skilled and motivated workforce to deal with critical execution of the company and brand plans with a laser focus on the guest experience.
- Personally interact with as many guests as possible during events to welcome them to Hudson and ensure their experience represents the unique, boutique experience of Marriott Tribute Portfolio properties
· Responsible for representation within the community and hospitality industry that expose the hotel to opportunities and create a positive public image. Participate in key organizations as recommended by management and our Corporate Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
- Partner with GM to analyze food, beverage and event costs to safeguard availability of all items needed to meet guest needs and efficient maximization of resources.
- Create and maintain a positive proactive and reactive sales culture. This position will support the Sales & Marketing Manager with an emphasis on executing contract deliverables and administrative Perfect Venue tasks such as contracts and BEOs.
- Assist in setting and delivering guest satisfaction, sales strategy and profitability results through effective collaboration on monthly, quarterly and annual plans and budgets.
- Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships between departments, with coworkers, ownership and the corporate management team. Prepare for team leadership meetings in advance.
- Keep abreast of new technologies, systems and procedures related to hospitality management. Travel as assigned. Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations for prospective clients. Internally promote hotel’s programs. Meet with and entertain clients, some of which may require travel.
- Organize and/or attend scheduled Sales Strategy, Leadership and other related meetings.
- Research trade shows and sales blitz opportunities to maximize facility exposure. Cost analysis, planning and organization required.
- Completes rooming list input and group billing as needed.
- Administers group events including greeting all groups and individual tours, placing welcome baskets in group contacts' room and taking care of any final items with the group at check out.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in executing time-sensitive events and with use of various hospitality software systems.
- Strong leadership experience with demonstrated ability to coach a team. Also, must be willing and available to cover shifts and various positions as needed within sales and events.
- PC literacy is required as well as accessibility 24/7 including weekends and holidays.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to understand and carry out industry specific written and oral direction. Positive, innovative approach to problem solving. Presents ideas in a clear, concise, understandable, and organized manner; negotiate, persuade, and modify opinion in order to reach the goals/objectives of the organization.
- Strong understanding of industry and demonstrated knowledge in the areas of financial analysis, business administration, legal, human resources, ethical practices, marketing, business development, revenue management, and sales.
- Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key associates, guests and top management.
- Ability to work in an organized, efficient manner with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through.
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion is critical to success. Must be professional at setting priorities and coping with competing demands.
- Excellent time-management and general organization skills.
- High level of integrity and ethics.
