JOB SUMMARYThe Development Department secures funding to advance The New York Historical’s mission, fostering relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporations to raise philanthropic support, driving membership growth, working with government funders, and securing contributed revenue through event rentals in our landmarked building. Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Development Operations Coordinator supports gift processing, database management, records management, and general development office functions. The Coordinator plays a key role in the team’s initiatives to raise funds for operations, exhibitions, collections, capital projects, endowment, and other special projects. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIESDevelopment OperationsEnter gifts, pledges, pledge payments, adjustments, and recurring charges from multiple contribution channels; prepare check deposits with corresponding materials for Finance department;Analyze gift details when processing contributions to ensure tracking procedures are maintained upon entry;Assemble database reports and gift support documentation for Finance department;Monitor outstanding pledge balances, generate outstanding pledge reports monthly and generate payment reminders and invoices monthly and as needed;Support ongoing database maintenance and data hygiene and work on data clean-up assignments. Additionally, manage updates to constituent biographical data;Assist with the implementation and maintenance of recurring giving and membership auto-renewal program;Create and maintain web donation forms for membership and annual giving;Prepare and mail acknowledgements/tax receipts for memberships, gifts, pledges, and pledge payments;Work with Assistant Director, Development Operations to document standard operating procedures for Tessitura database.General DevelopmentSupport Assistant Director, Development Operations in fulfilling constituent list requests and running simple reports and queries;Print and mail physical membership cards when requested.;Monitor membership and development inbox and assist with phone line;Assist Vice President for Development with select administrative tasks as requested (submit credit card statements, order office supplies, coordinate office scheduling);Work with Development team on internal mailing campaigns as necessary;Other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS2-3 years professional experience in development or a related field;Experience with a CRM preferred; experience with Tessitura is a plus;Highly organized and able to prioritize multiple long-term assignments while managing immediate tasks in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment;Ability to handle sensitive information with the strictest confidentiality;Meticulous attention to detail and follow-up;Strong interpersonal skills;Ability to solve problems and work independently;Availability to work evening and/or weekend events when necessary;Commitment and enthusiasm for The New York Historical.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee with or without accommodation, to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. COMPENSATION & BENEFITSThe expected salary for this position is $55,000 per year.
