Scribble Art Workshop, an organization dedicated to high quality visual arts instruction, is looking for teaching artists who are either certified to teach in NYC public schools or sub-certified for NYC public schools, for our teaching artist residency programs in New York City. This position includes teaching art 5 days a week (5 classes per day) at an elementary school in the Bronx from March until the end of June. We provide curriculum and instructional coaching. Candidate should have at least 2 years of teaching experience, be highly motivated to continue to improve his/her teaching practice, be extremely dependable and believe that being a great artist is not about knowing how to draw but rather knowing how to think creatively. Our company centers around giving our students (ages 18 months and up) the authentic experience of working as artists: conceiving of original ideas and then realizing those ideas through to fruition. We are not about having a class where all students create the same fruit bowl painting or replicate the styles of master painters. If you believe this is valuable, please do not apply. This position requires that you are either certified for NYC DOE schools or sub-certified. Please do not apply if you do not have these qualifications. Part of teaching within our company requires paid ongoing training (@$17/hour) and professional development within a community of our teachers.
