Emma Scully Gallery promotes contemporary design through conceptual programming. We commission, collect, and curate design work that is experimental and research-oriented, advocating for an academic framing in a commercial context.We are seeking a paid gallery intern to be available Fridays and Saturdays in-person at 16 East 79th Street. The role will include assisting with clients and visitors to the gallery, as well as completing small database projects and some light social media work. Familiarity with databases/archives a plus but not required. Applicants should be comfortable with sales duties and will assist the Principal on an as-needed basis with sales communication and will facilitate some logistics alongside Gallery Manager. Intern should be detail-oriented, hardworking, and reliable. Strong communication skills are an absolute requirement. The ideal applicant is a current graduate student in a relevant field who could begin April 1 and resume in the fall. Applicants without prior full-time work experience will not be considered and are asked not to apply. Detailed breakdown of tasks as follows:Gallery Maintenance:Prepared with materials on the current show and works on the floor to hand to visitorsBe on time and present in the gallery for gallery open hoursEnsure the gallery phone is charged and calls are answered during work hoursEnsure gallery stocked with water and sparkling water for clientsAwareness of and preparedness for ingoing and outgoing shipments/deliveriesEnsure printer is working and ready to go (ink in stock, paper in stock)Awareness of light gallery maintenance: light dusting, smudged work should be cleaned, and desk clean and tidySales / Marketing Support:Support sales and PR by providing requested tear sheets and photography Speak to visitors to the gallery and be knowledgeable about available work and current exhibitionThis is a part-time, two day per week position that will begin April 1 and last for the run of our Spring show, with a summer break, then resume in fall 2026 for the run of our Fall/early Winter show through December 31st.
