Job Title: MEMBERSHIP AND ANNUAL FUND MANAGERDepartment: DevelopmentFLSA Status: Non-ExemptEmployment Status: Full-TimeUnion Position: YesGrade Level: 2Reports to: Vice President of AdvancementSalary: $66,312.02MEMBERSHIP AND ANNUAL FUND MANAGERPOSITION OVERVIEWThe Membership and Annual Fund Manager is an essential position in the Development Department at the New Museum, responsible for developing, promoting, and executing the Museum’s distinctive Membership program.The Membership Manager reports to the Vice President of Advancement and works closely with our Department of External Affairs and Visitor Experience teams, in addition to other Museum Departments. The Membership Manager actively engages with Members onsite and online, is the principal contact for communications and marketing, designs and executes membership events in collaboration with Museum staff and vendors and provides analysis and strategic planning for membership program sustainability and growth. This position requires flexibility in work schedules. Work hours will include evenings and weekends as needed for Member programming and events.With the opening of our newly expanded campus —a new 60,000 sq. ft. building designed by Pritzker Prize winning architecture firm OMA, we project significant growth for the Membership program. This is an exciting time to join the New Museum team!RESPONSIBILITIES•Oversee the growth, stewardship, and promotion of the Membership program, leveraging the dynamism and distinction of the institution’s exhibitions, programs, and special initiatives.•Develop and implement new and existing Membership campaigns and projects to acquire, renew, reactivate, and upgrade Members. This includes direct mail, digital, and on-site campaigns.•Ensure Membership benefits are fulfilled; provide exemplary customer service; ensure superb onsite and online member experiences•Execute a dynamic calendar of Membership events that aptly reflect the New Museum’s brand and mission including Member parties, Member hours, and Member previews.•Secure sponsorship for Membership events.•In concert with the Marketing team, create distinctive Membership promotions that exemplify the New Museum brand; create Member incentives; work with the Store to create Members-only and Members-first products.•Work collaboratively and cross-departmentally with Communications, Marketing, Visitor Experience, Director’s Office, Special Events, and Curatorial to promote and deliver exceptional membership benefits and programming.•Develop comprehensive statistics and reports to monitor the results of Membership programs and campaigns.•Ensure the integrity of Membership data and donor records. Create monthly reports that analyze membership trends and projections.•Ensure standard policies and protocols for general membership are upheld and fulfilled.•Manage and execute Annual Fund campaigns (print and digital).•Manage the Membership budget.•Raise revenue of $850,000+ annually across membership and annual fund campaigns•Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSThe ideal candidate is a strategic, creative, problem-solver with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. They are an energetic team player with a positive attitude, who brings enthusiasm to problem solving. We are seeking a candidate who has a passion for contemporary art and exudes a professional demeanor at all times. Experience working with high-net-worth individuals is a plus.A bachelor’s degree is preferred. A minimum of five years\' work experience in membership development or previously working in a fast-paced environment responsible to deliver top-tier customer service experience is required. Flexibility to work outside regular business hours for member programs and events is essential. Prior museum experience is desired.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge (or similar database) is required, along with knowledge of direct response fundraising best practices.
