Position Overview

Wolberg Electric, a trusted name in electrical distribution for over a century, is seeking a motivated Assistant Counter Sales Manager to support and help lead our Kingston branch operations. This is a hands-on, commission-based customer-facing leadership role ideal for someone looking to grow their career in sales, operations, and team leadership within the electrical supply industry.

The ideal candidate will assist the Branch Manager in overseeing counter sales, inventory control, customer engagement, and daily operational efficiency—while mentoring team members and delivering outstanding service. This is a growth-oriented role with a path to future leadership within the company. Salary is commensurate with experience, and consists of a base hourly rate plus commission.

Key Responsibilities

Branch Operations & Administration

Support daily branch operations to ensure smooth workflow and superior customer service.
Ensure the counter area is clean, organized, and well-stocked with relevant materials.
Process and reconcile all daily sales slips, credit card payments, and cash batches accurately for accounting submission.
Review open counter sales pick tickets daily; follow up and close out as needed.
Assist the Branch Manager with administrative tasks and special projects.
Maintain compliance with all safety protocols and regulatory standards.

Inventory Management

Assist in managing inventory levels, ensuring product availability, stock accuracy, and timely replenishment.
Monitor and maintain system accuracy through proper transaction processing and team accountability.
Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory processes to support loss prevention and product flow.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

Foster a positive, team-oriented culture by modeling professional behavior and strong work ethic.
Assist in onboarding and training new counter staff, helping to cultivate product knowledge and service skills.
Serve as a resource to other team members and assist the Branch Manager in coaching team performance.
Be proactive in learning fundamentals of management and sales leadership to improve skills to lead the counter sales team for the branch manager.

Customer Service & Sales Excellence

Serve as a key point of contact for walk-in and phone customers, providing expert product guidance and order fulfillment.
Build rapport with customers to drive repeat business and ensure satisfaction.
Proactively identify opportunities to upsell or offer alternative product solutions based on customer needs.
Support timely and accurate order processing, ensuring a smooth end-to-end customer experience

Product & Industry Knowledge

Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Wolberg’s product offerings, solutions, and services.
Stay informed of industry trends, new products, and competitor activity to better serve customer needs.
Share product knowledge with customers and staff to support informed purchasing decisions.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a counter sales, retail operations, or electrical distribution environment.
Strong customer service skills with a collaborative, team-first mindset.
Familiarity with electrical products and applications highly preferred.
Proficiency in POS systems, inventory platforms, and Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move materials as needed.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
