Job Description

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President of Facilities Operations, supervises campus-wide custodial operations ensuring a clean, safe environment for students and staff. Manages a team of more than 70 staff across multiple supervisory areas. Serves as primary liaison for external contractors and vendors while coordinating event support and emergency response and compliance with applicable college policies, standards and regulatory agency codes. Coordinates custodial, set up and breakdown of events and campus response to issues or events affecting campus operations and serves as the principal Facilities Operations liaison on-site for external contractors and vendors related to the role.

Responsibilities

Ensures compliance with College standards and applicable regulatory codes to maintain a safe environment for students, staff and faculty.
Develops and implements sustainable cleaning practices and green initiatives.
Monitors inventory, requisitions supplies, and coordinates contractor services.
Supervises Custodial Supervisors; hires, trains, evaluates and disciplines staff.
Conducts ongoing training and custodial inspections.
Oversees attendance to ensure timesheet accuracy.
Coordinates event support with Campus Activities and other departments.
Manages campus-wide custodial budget including cost analysis and variance reporting.
Utilizes Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and inspection software for work orders, inspections and service request tracking.
Coordinate contracts campus wide for Pest Control and the Facilities Operations staff uniforms.
Serves as “essential” personnel for emergency response including snow or ice removal.
Maintains professional development through industry conferences and training.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

Supervisory principles; custodial practices; environmental regulations and safety procedures; sustainable cleaning practices; budget management; inventory control.

Supervising 70+ staff; budget management; conflict resolution; project management; computer technology including CMMS; effective communication; team collaboration; inventory management; organization of complex cleaning schedules to conform to a given calendar; implementing sustainability initiatives.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Seven years experience performing custodial tasks
Five years in a supervisory capacity or equivalent
Possess and maintain a New York State Driver License

Travel Requirements:

Attend related conferences, seminars.

Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities

Experience in union environment and higher education custodial operations

Compensation

The starting annual base salary range for this position is $85,000-$110,000(USD)
