The Trades Generalist performs journey-level carpentry and locksmith work and may supervisor others. Builds, repairs, installs such items as counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, windows, building framework, roofs, and trim, adjusts doors and building hardware. Prepares doors from slab to full finished functioning doors. Backs up the Locksmith when needed - performs all locksmith responsibilities and tasks. Prepares sketches and plans to scale from written or verbal instructions. Recommends and orders the type, quantity and quality of materials needed to complete work orders.

Operating Needs:
- Operates a variety of hand, power and special tools for extended periods
- Performs moderate to heavy manual labor
- Works from ladders, man lifts or scaffolding
- Effectively uses and comprehends parts, operating and repair manuals
- Has good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with others as a team
- Possesses a valid NYS Driver license, class D or above (other than a motorcycle license)
- Is able and willing to work overtime, sometimes on short notice, responds to off-hour emergency requests, and provides an acceptable response
- Is familiar with pertinent codes related to structure and fire safety
- Works well with diverse groups, as a team, with a positive customer service attitude
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses electric door operators and sliding doors
- Repairs and installs electric strike
- Obtains Asbestos Supervisor Certification within six (6) months of hire
- Diagnoses various locking mechanisms & door hardware failures and recommends possible solutions
Minimum Qualifications:Non-competitive: Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journey-level worker which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services may be substituted on a year-for–year basis.
Candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated and able to pass LENS Check.
Preferred Qualifications:- Previous experience in similar structural repair environment.
- Basic fire door requirements.
- Demonstrated computer experience, preferably with Microsoft Office Suite, Footprints work order system, Keystone 600 key management software, HPC CodeSource,Vision Expert 9 software.
Work Schedule:40 hours/week: Monday - Friday 7:00am-3:30pm.
