Position DescriptionReporting to RAIR’s co-directors, the Director of Development helps design and implement all aspects of RAIR’s fundraising program including foundation support, annual giving initiatives, corporate giving, sponsorships, fundraising events, government grants and major gifts. The Director of Development works in close partnership with the Creative Director and the Managing Director to develop and advance strategic fundraising goals. They also support this work through their active roles working with the Board and Development Committee.The Director of Development will join the organization as it pursues an ambitious strategic agenda to sustain its internationally-renowned artist residency program while expanding opportunities for local public engagement and impact. Initially, the work will include sustaining the organization’s current budget of around $500,000. Over time, we hope to catalyze growth in support that expands our ability to achieve our mission and impact. The interdisciplinary nature of our work creates opportunities to engage contributors across a range of interest areas, from arts and culture to environment sustainability, and community development. Job ResponsibilitiesPartner with the Creative Director and Managing Director to set fundraising goals and strategies. Partner with staff and board to identify and qualify new funding prospects.Organize cultivation and stewardship strategies for all funders and donors.Implement annual giving programs, including the development of all materials.Implement a major giving program, including managing solicitations and overseeing the design and delivery of donor engagement strategies.Play a leading role in the design and delivery of the annual fundraiser, Trash Bash, in particular developing and managing strategies to secure sponsorships and sell tickets. Manage the grants calendar and prepare all grant proposals and reports in collaboration with relevant team members.Staff the Development Committee and prepare reports and calls to action for the Board.Manage RAIR’s CRM, including gift entry and acknowledgement.Track fundraising progress and share reports as requested. Oversee any contractors engaged to advance fundraising efforts. QualificationsMinimum of 5 years of fundraising and grant writing experience Proven track record of securing private, corporate and foundation supportStrong work ethic with the ability to work collaboratively with a teamStrong interpersonal skills, capable of communicating with diverse stakeholdersExcellent presentation, verbal and written communication skillsExcellent organizational, planning and critical thinking skillsExcellent prioritization and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Adheres to ethical principles in all business dealingsExperienced with using Google products, Google Drive, CRMs and event management software A love of art and an interest in environmental sustainability and circularity is a plus!
