Job Summary:
The Pediatric Patient Safety Coordinator's duties include monitoring the reporting of patient safety events in the occurrence reporting system and ensuring appropriate follow-up in collaboration with the unit manager. Identifying, investigating, and interpreting the patient event data trends for the purpose of improving quality and safety in patient care. Identifying trends and collaborating with key stakeholders to develop action plans. Completing monthly safety rounds on each unit in the Children's Hospital. Acting as a liaison to the Children's Hospital Quality Manager. Representing the Children's Hospital with the Solutions for Patient Safety collaborative and fostering the further development of safety culture in the Children's Hospital. Leadership and implementation of safety culture methods as identified by Solutions for Patient Safety, and disseminate across the Children's Hospital. Work closely with hospital quality, safety, and risk management and staff. Identify educational needs of nursing staff and provide needed education and support to promote excellent nursing care to Children's Hospital patients.
Minimum Qualifications:
NYS licensed/registered (or eligible) RN required. Master's degree in Nursing required by time of appointment and 3 years Pediatric acute care nursing experience required. CPR-BLS required by time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in specialty area strongly preferred.
