Adelphi Paper Hangings, in Sharon Springs, New York, is a producer of historic reproduction block printed wallpapers. We currently have a full time production printer position open. As our production method involves the use of pre-industrial (manual) equipment physical agility, dexterity and strength are required. Block printing is a repetitive process; consequently an applicant must be able to maintain concentration while paying close attention to details. Experience with block printing or other printing methods is not required.Other duties include:-Applying background color onto rolls of blank paper – also known as “grounding”-Learning how to formulate paint bases and mix colors.-Learning the basics of printing block repair-Maintaining an orderly and clean work area.Adelphi Paper Hangings is a relatively small workshop. Trainees must be able to work closely with other printers as well as accept suggestions and advice.An art school degree in studio arts is highly recommended.
