Company Overview
MK Fluidic Systems, LLC is a contract manufacturing and engineering company specializing in precision fluid handling products for life science and instrumentation markets. We design, develop, and manufacture products and processes entirely in-house, maintaining full control over quality, repeatability, and process integrity. Our environment blends high-mix manufacturing with scaled production, and we partner closely across Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Production to deliver robust, high-reliability components and assemblies.
Role Overview
The Engineering Manager leads a team of 3–4 engineers and owns engineering execution across product development, process engineering, and continuous improvement. This role is responsible for taking new products from concept through release into production, developing and validating manufacturing processes, and driving measurable improvements in quality, efficiency, and cost.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, comfortable on a production floor, and excels at turning tribal knowledge into clear, repeatable, documented procedures and standards. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with Quality Assurance and Production to ensure engineering and manufacturing operate as one team.
Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering Leadership & Team Development
Lead, coach, and develop a team of 3–4 engineers: set clear expectations, provide technical guidance and regular feedback, and support professional growth.
Prioritize engineering work, allocate resources, and ensure timely execution across multiple projects, production support needs, and improvement initiatives.
Establish practical engineering standards for documentation, design reviews, risk management, and change control that enable the team to scale without heroics.
New Product Introduction (NPI) & Product Development
Own the engineering workflow from concept through production release, including requirements definition, design reviews, prototyping, verification and validation, and handoff to manufacturing.
Drive DFM/DFA collaboration with Production and Quality Assurance to ensure designs are manufacturable, testable, and stable in volume production.
Deliver complete design transfer packages: drawings, specifications, BOMs, work instructions, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria.
Process Engineering & Continuous Improvement
Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes for precision fluid handling products, with emphasis on process capability, stability, and repeatability.
Identify and execute improvements across machining, assembly, and test processes using structured methods and data (scrap, yield, rework, cycle time, Cp/Cpk).
Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions in collaboration with Quality Assurance, using proven methods (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa).
Provide hands-on engineering support for production operations, including troubleshooting process issues and implementing sustainable fixes.
Documentation & Quality System Support
Raise the bar on SOPs, work instructions, and engineering documentation so that processes are repeatable and new hires can execute consistently.
Oversee engineering change control (ECO/ECN workflow), ensuring changes are appropriately reviewed, documented, and communicated.
Cooperate with Quality Assurance to maintain compliance with ISO 13485 and ensure engineering outputs support traceability and auditability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Quality Assurance and all Production departments to align engineering priorities with manufacturing needs and capacity.
Interface with customers and their engineering teams to understand and refine product requirements; provide technical input during quoting and proposals.
