Maquette Fine Art Services is seeking a highly skilled and motivated technician to join our respected team as a Pack Shop Technician. This role is ideal for experienced art handlers who are interested in expanding their skill set and learning specialized museum-standard packing techniques.While prior museum packing experience is not required, candidates must have strong art handling experience and a willingness to develop advanced crate packing skills.Work is primarily performed in-house during regular business hours. However, onsite work will be required for projects of varying scale and scope.Position OverviewReporting directly to the Pack Shop Manager, the Pack Shop Technician is responsible for the safe handling, packing, and preparation of a wide range of artworks and objects.Key ResponsibilitiesSafely handle, pack, and prepare artworks and objects of various types and materialsConstruct packing systems according to museum standardsInterpret and execute packing diagrams, cut sheets, and pack listsMaintain accurate project documentation and paperworkCommunicate professionally with clients during onsite and in-house projectsSafely operate hand tools and power tools in both shop and field environmentsCarefully move heavy, fragile, and/or irregularly shaped objectsQualifications3–5 years of professional experience handling and packing artworks and objectsStrong knowledge of packing materials and safe art handling methodsExperience with crate construction techniques and packing strategiesAbility to work both independently and collaboratively within a teamStrong organizational skills and attention to detailTechnical proficiency with hand tools and power toolsAbility to manage physical demands of the role
