Shift Manager
Job Type: Full-time (40+ Hours)
Shift: Nights, 6:00 pm – 6:00 am, Monday through Friday. Sanitation begins at 9:00 pm daily.
Overtime Exempt: Yes
Compensation: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 annually commensurate with experience.
High speed manufacturer seeking a motivated Shift Manager.
Summary
The ideal person will work with managers and supervisors in the production, maintenance, quality, and sanitation departments, and focus on employees being productive, efficient, and safe.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee daily activities and communicate daily with the relevant managers to communicate any obstacles employees may have faced.
- Meet at the beginning of the shift with the appropriate shift personnel to check on the status of machinery set up, sanitation, quality control/assurance, and production to ensure optimal production levels.
- Enforcing safety protocols and food safety protocols. Disciplining when appropriate.
- Oversee daily set up of machinery and equipment prior to production for efficient and effective operation.
- Review exception reports relating to overtime approvals if applicable.
- Ensuring company and customer operating procedures (SOPs) are enforced. Raising any issues with gaps in SOPs, if applicable.
- Act as a member of the newly formed safety committee and represent the employees.
- Work with upper management to set key performance indicators (KPIs) for the night shift.
- Create a cross-training and incentive program for staff to ensure retention of good employees.
- Monitor production process to ensure smooth flow.
- Work with the sanitation team to ensure the sanitation schedule is being maintained.
- Receive and resolve operation problems. Work with employees and upper management as needed.
- Monitor performance of department associates to ensure adherence to established standards and procedures, such as safety and housekeeping.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in high-speed manufacturing facility.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manager or supervisor role.
- Thorough knowledge of department operations and procedures.
- Basic math and computer skills. Excel software a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluency in Spanish and/or French a plus.
- Ability to understand complex instructions.
- Strong communication skills and team building.
- Experience in union shop a plus.
- Ability to write reports and log documentation.
Special Requirements
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, or crouch for duration of shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs at times.
