Banquet Manager (with Banquet and Restaurant Responsibilities)
Diamond Mills Resort is the Hudson Valley's premier boutique hotel and special events destination. Located in the Village of Saugerties,NY, Diamond Mills offers over 7000 square feet of versatile private event space, with three distinct venues all with waterfront views. The elegant event space at Diamond Mills can accommodate weddings, corporate retreats, conferences and banquets for up to 450 seated guests.
Diamond Mills is seeking a Banquet Manager to oversee events large and small, from the time the contract is signed to the fruition of the event. A major goal of the position is to nurture existing clients, help re-attract former clients, and develop strategies for attracting new events such as corporate meetings and retreats. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, willing to work hands-on with clients leading up to and during their events, and enjoy working with the multi-faceted nature of Diamond Mills, including the Hotel, Restaurant, Spa and Event departments. When not working on events, the person in this position may work in the Restaurant, BLACKBARN Hudson Valley, as Manager/Assistant Manager, depending on duties needed.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience
- Highly professional and committed to the wedding & hospitality industry
- Have a passion for events and the challenges that go along with producing them
- Have a focus and ability to deliver exceptional customer service
- Previous experience running and managing social events such as weddings, B’Mitzvahs and fundraising or awards events
- Previous experience with corporate event sales, development and production
- Previous experience in creating detailed event proposals and contracts, and communicating with clients throughout the sales process.
- Maintain a confident and professional approach when dealing with clients and event suppliers
- Able to work under pressure and multi task
- Exhibit efficient time management and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and consistent follow-up skills
- Flexibility with roles and responsibilities a must
- Ability to work independently and as an integral part of a team
- Ability to stay calm when working under deadlines and/or pressure
- Available to work late nights and weekends when required
- Excellent email, telephone and message taking etiquette
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel. Experience with TripleSeat software a plus.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Assist the Sales Team in all aspects of venue sales
- Assist the Sales Team in producing detailed bids and contracts for customers
- Become the customer’s point of contact once event contract is signed
- Respond to and handle customer inquiries leading up to the event quickly and courteously
- Maximize each event sale by ensuring optional extras are taken up by clients where possible
- Manage all aspects of event set-up, event fulfillment, and event tear-down
- When not working directly on events, this position will work at the on-site restaurant, BLACKBARN Hudson Valley as Manager/Assistant manager, fulfilling duties as needed
- Working events on nights and weekends is expected.
