Development and Communications CoordinatorPart-Time, October 2025 start datePosition OverviewThe Ely Center of Contemporary Art, based in New Haven, Connecticut, seeks an enterprising Development and Communications and Coordinator to augment our initiatives, serving as the primary liaison between the organization and our external community. This hands-on role combines marketing, PR and fundraising. The Communications and Development Coordinator will create and execute digital and print campaigns that promote our programming and cultivate philanthropic support, while working hand-in-hand with the Gallery Director to ensure sustainable growth and enhanced visibility for the organization. The position will begin in October with a trial period through December 31, 2025.Development & Fundraising (50%).Maintain and develop the grants calendar and complete grant reporting on schedule.Manage donor database and coordinate with our Bookkeeper and Treasurer to ensure accurate gift processing and donor acknowledgment systemsHelp ideate, plan, and execute creative pathways to cultivate and deepen relationships with donors, including face-to-face meetings with donors and prospects Work with the Board and Gallery Director to design and execute fundraising goals and collaborate with the fundraising committee to plan and execute events such as our benefit auction, donor gatherings, and stewardship activities. Marketing & Communications (50%)Manage digital marketing initiatives including website content, social media platforms, email campaigns, paid online advertising, and cross-promotion. Coordinate media relations and press outreach to secure earned media coverage in print, digital, and broadcast outlets.Oversee audience development strategies to grow and diversify attendance across all programmingAttend the Ely Center’s artist receptions and talks.Required QualificationsMinimum 5 years of experience in arts marketing, nonprofit development, or comparable fields with demonstrated success in fundraising and marketing.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and command of email marketing platforms, social media management tools, and basic graphic design softwareStrong project management skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent campaigns and deadlines and experience managing freelance professionals and external vendorsCommitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of external and internal relationsPreferred QualificationsA degree in Arts Management or Administration, or equivalent experience in cultural and/or non-profit organizations.Experience with major donor cultivation and stewardship ($1,000+ gifts)Familiarity with arts funding landscape including NEA, state arts councils, and private foundationsSEO, Google Analytics and social media advertising experience
