About the Role
Millbrook Winery is seeking a mature, dynamic, creative, hands-on leader to oversee the daily operations of our Tasting Room, Tap Room, and Retail Shop. This is our most customer-facing role — the person in this position sets the tone for every guest’s experience and drives the success of our retail wine business.
We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, people-first environment; who takes ownership of results; and who leads with enthusiasm, professionalism, and entrepreneurial spirit. The ideal candidate will combine proven retail sales and hospitality management skills with genuine warmth, curiosity, and a love of great wine.
Schedule
- Full-time: Thursday–Monday (weekends required)
- Most holidays worked (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day excluded)
- 40+ hours per week expected
Key Responsibilities
Direct Management
- Lead the daily operations of our Tasting Room and Tap Room, meeting budget and sales goals.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and manage an exceptional hospitality team.
- Ensure every visitor enjoys an outstanding experience — from answering questions and leading tastings to resolving issues with professionalism.
- Conduct wine tastings and tours as needed.
- Oversee staff during Food Truck Fridays and Jazz Saturdays, including post-event cleanup.
- Motivate and guide staff to achieve performance targets by leading from the front.
- Collaborate on store displays and merchandising.
- Coordinate and manage group visits, weddings, bus tours, and other private events.
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards across tasting areas, restrooms, grounds, and offices.
- Monitor inventory levels of wine, supplies, and retail goods; reorder as needed.
- Participate in off-site winery events.
- Develop and refine tasting room procedures.
Shared Responsibilities
- Support winery special events and marketing initiatives.
- Assist with private-label wine applications and order fulfillment.
- Continue expanding wine, vineyard, and winemaking knowledge.
- Uphold all company policies and procedures.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: Starting at $50,000+ (Actual base salary based on experience)
- Sales Commission: Based on tasting room sales & facility rentals (estimated $10,000+ annually) Actual commission rate based on experience.
- Year-End Bonus: Based on individual and company-wide performance
- Vacation: 2 weeks starting

What We’re Looking For
Required Skills & Experience
- Previous management experience in retail, hospitality, or restaurant settings
- Proven ability to recruit, train, and lead high-performing teams
- Strong selling skills and customer service.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook (must be comfortable with spreadsheets)
- Ability to lift and move 40 lbs repeatedly
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree
- P&L management experience
- Prior wine industry and/or restaurant management experience. Wine knowledge (a plus, not a must)
