About Us
Treadlight Farm (est. 2015) is a certified-organic cut-flower farm and nursery operating on 20 acres of fields at the Arrowhead Agricultural Center in Kerhonkson, NY. We grow annual, biennial, and perennial plants in our fields and greenhouses and sell cut flowers and nursery stock from March through November to wholesale customers in the Hudson Valley, Westchester and NYC.
We take pride in our work and believe in the responsible production of ornamental plants.
Among our highest priorities are working in ways that minimize our environmental impact, and maintaining a positive, constructive, and comfortable work environment. We value honesty, clear communication, a can-do spirit, and intellectual interest in all things plant-related. We believe that every task and every team member is important, and that every job is worth doing well.
Job Description
Harvesters are Full or Part-Time, seasonal positions from March through November, with the possibility of part-time, non-harvest work in the winter and low-sales months. Their role during harvest season is to harvest and pack out as many cut-flower bunches as possible while ensuring high quality standards.
Harvesters harvest, process, and pack our cut-flower products from greenhouses and fields. They work independently sometimes, or with a team of other harvesters in our busiest months. Harvesting occurs in all weather conditions (excluding unsafe conditions), and is a physically challenging job.
Because we grow many varieties of cut-flowers all season long, harvesters require training, an eye for detail, and stamina.
Harvesters are sometimes asked to jump in on other team activities at the farm, which may include transplanting, weeding, and more.
*Note: as a cut-flower farm, we sometimes encounter bees. Candidates with known bee allergies may want to take this important fact into consideration.
